Ryan O'Hearn Displaying Patience
6 years agoKansas City Royals first baseman Ryan O'Hearn hasn't really gotten rolling yet, but he has shown an impressive amount of patience for a rookie. The 25-year-old is only 1-for-10 over his last four games, but he's walked four times in that period of time as well. Power-hitting youngsters aren't really known for that type of patience at the plate, especially when they have a veteran pushing them for playing time. The good news is Lucas Duda, O'Hearn's main competition for at-bats, is hitting a measly .154 on the season and has zero walks. O'Hearn regularly posted walk rates above 11 percent in the minors, so the patience shouldn't wear out anytime soon, and he brings 20-plus home run power to an otherwise power-deficient lineup. O'Hearn could quietly become a minor star in KC.
