Royals to Promote Carter Jensen to Majors
Carter Jensen from Triple-A Omaha on Monday. The 22-year-old Kansas City native was a third-round pick in 2021 who now ranks as MLB Pipeline's 69th-best prospect and the No. 2 farmhand in the Royals' system. Jensen opened 2025 in Double-A ball before earning a promotion to Omaha, where his phenomenal production led to his first call to the majors. In 43 games at the Triple-A level this year, Jensen slashed .288/.404/.647 with 14 home runs and 39 RBI in 184 plate appearances. While Jensen may be the long-term successor to franchise icon Salvador Perez, the latter is still the team's starter behind the plate. Jensen should overtake light-hitting journeyman Luke Maile as the Royals' No. 2 backstop and pick up playing time when Perez is out of the lineup or at DH.
