Ronny Mauricio Called Up by the Mets
Ronny Mauricio will join the team in Los Angeles for the rest of their series against the Dodgers, after Mark Vientos (hamstring) suffered an injury in the tenth inning of Monday night's win. Mauricio played 26 games for the Mets in 2023 and is a key prospect for them going forward, but missed all of 2024 and got a late start to this season after suffering a torn ACL in the Dominican Winter League in December of 2023. After playing 10 games in the lower minors, Mauricio has looked excellent in nine games in Triple-A with the Syracuse Mets. He went 17-for-33 (.515) with three home runs, four stolen bases, a .583 wOBA, and a 48.3% hard-hit rate in that small sample size. He could step right into an everyday role at 3B if Vientos is out a while, and his well-rounded prospect profile with power, speed, and contact makes him a great pickup in standard leagues. He has a very high ceiling and will likely end up with eligibility at multiple positions while making contributions in multiple categories if he stays in the majors the rest of the year.
