Roki Sasaki Throws Three-Inning Simulated Game
Roki Sasaki (shoulder) threw a three-inning, 46-pitch simulated game against hitters on Friday and sat in the 96-97 mph range, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. The Dodgers are still determining next steps for Sasaki, but a rehab assignment is a possibility. The 23-year-old rookie, a much-hyped free-agent pickup from Japan, hasn't pitched in the majors since May 9 because of a shoulder impingement. Sasaki made eight appearances before going on the IL and struggled to a 4.72 ERA with a 1.49 WHIP, 24 strikeouts, and 22 walks over 34 1/3 innings. The Dodgers are hopeful that Sasaki will return in late August, but considering his long-term importance to the organization, they'll continue to be careful with his recovery.
