Robinson Chirinos Announces His Retirement
12 months agoCatcher Robinson Chirinos officially announced his retirement from professional baseball on Wednesday on his Twitter account. Chirinos hadn't played at all in 2023 and hit .179/.265/.287 with a .552 OPS, nine doubles, four home runs, 22 RBI, a steal and 10 runs scored in 67 games for the Baltimore Orioles in 2022. He spent time with six different teams during his 11-year career, but he only spent significant time with one team, the Texas Rangers (seven seasons). He saw one-year stints with the Mets, Rays, Cubs, Orioles and Astros. The 38-year-old backstop will walk away from the game with a career .226/.319/.419 slash line with a .738 OPS, 95 home runs, 306 RBI and five stolen bases in 714 regular season games.
