9 months agoRobert Suarez has the inside track to the closer job in San Diego. Manager Mike Shildt mentioned Suarez and Yuki Matsui as the frontrunners to close out games. The 33-year-old Suarez had been in a high-leverage role behind Josh Hader, who signed with the Astros via free agency. Suarez features a high-octane fastball at 97.6 MPH and an above-average changeup. Matsui may need some time to acclimate to the MLB game coming over from Japan. The ATC projections are more bullish than others, with 18 saves and a 3.78 ERA. Suarez has an NFBC ADP of 212, so it all depends on how he fits your team build and what you need from the closer position. Beware that this could quickly become a timeshare with Matsui once he gains experience.
