Rex Burkhead Will Play Against Jaguars
3 years agoHouston Texans running back Rex Burkhead (hip, quadriceps) is officially active for Sunday's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 15. Head coach David Culley said earlier in the week that Burkhead wouldn't play, but he apparently made enough progress to suit up. It's bad news for Royce Freeman, who was set for a pass-catching role behind David Johnson if Burkhead was inactive. Instead, Freeman will probably only see a handful of snaps as the third option in this backfield. It's a nice matchup against Jacksonville and the Houston offense may be able to move the ball more than usual, but the combination of Burkhead and Johnson shouldn't excite fantasy managers that were considering starting one of them. They'll both be low-upside RB3/flex options in deeper leagues.
