Reese Olson To Make MLB Debut On Friday
2 years agoDetroit Tigers pitching prospect Reese Olson will be called up from Triple-A Toledo to make his major-league debut in a start on Friday against the Chicago White Sox. The team's No. 11 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, will be taking the rotation spot of injured left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez (finger) for the time being. The 23-year-old right-hander has struggled at Toledo in 10 starts this year, posting a 6.38 ERA, 1.74 WHIP, 22 walks and 47 strikeouts in 36 2/3 innings. However, he's turned in a 3.00 ERA in his last six starts to earn a call up to the big leagues for the first time. The matchup against Chicago is a nice one, but Olson won't be a recommended fantasy streamer in his first big-league start, and there's a chance he'll be sent back down to the farm right away.
