Red Sox Likely To Re-Sign Jackie Bradley Jr.?
4 years agoThe Boston Red Sox are likely to re-sign outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. now that they've traded Andrew Benintendi, according to two rival executives. "It makes too much sense not to happen now," one executive said. Bradley has displayed excellent defense in center field the last eight seasons for the Red Sox, with his performances at the plate being very streaky. He hit .283/.364/.450 with seven home runs in 55 games last year, but he has a .732 career OPS. The 30-year-old has been linked to a handful of outfield-needy clubs this offseason, but he might be returning to the only MLB club he's called home. Despite signing Albert Almora Jr. last weekend, the Mets are a potential landing spot. As a defense-first player, the left-handed hitter is more of an AL/NL-only target because of his streakiness at the plate.
