Red Sox Close To Signing Jonathan Lucroy
5 years agoThe Boston Red Sox are close to a deal with catcher Jonathan Lucroy on Tuesday, according to sources. Lucroy would become a depth option behind Christian Vazquez and Kevin Plawecki and would likely be settling for a minor league deal. The 33-year-old veteran backstop hit just .232/.305/.355 with eight homers and 36 RBI in 101 games for the Angels and Cubs in 2019. Lucroy is a two-time All-Star but is just a shell of his former self that clubbed 24 home runs and drove in 81 with the Brewers and Rangers back in 2016. Unless injuries force him into regular playing time with the Red Sox, it'll be hard to recommend him in fantasy, even in two-catcher leagues.
