Rece Hinds Heads Back To Minors
5 months agoTo make room for outfielder TJ Friedl (hamstring) on the active MLB roster, the Cincinnati Reds optioned outfield prospect Rece Hinds to Triple-A Louisville. Hinds burst onto the scene after his first big-league call-up and was named the National League Player of the Week two weeks ago, but he has predictably fallen off since then. The 23-year-old went deep five times in his first six games with the Reds but picked up just one hit in 16 at-bats since then, including five strikeouts. As a result, the former second-rounder in 2019 lost out on playing time and will now continue his development on the farm. The club's No. 15 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has hit .316 (12-for-38) in his first 10 MLB games and could be back with the Reds when rosters expand in September as outfield depth.
