Randy Vasquez Cleared To Start On Friday
5 months agoSan Diego Padres right-hander Randy Vasquez (forearm) has been cleared to make his next start on Friday against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. Vasquez left his last start after just 59 pitches on Friday night in Boston against the Red Sox and took a no-decision after being hit in the right forearm by a comebacker. In his four innings of work, he gave up only one earned run on five hits while striking out one and walking one. Thankfully, the 25-year-old avoided any structural damage in his arm and will not even miss a turn through the rotation. Still, he'll be a bit more risky for fantasy managers in deeper leagues against Arizona. Since returning to the Padres from Triple-A El Paso on June 1, Vasquez has gone 2-1 with a 4.20 ERA and 1.60 WHIP with 19 K's and nine walks in six starts covering 30 innings. He had a quality start in his first meeting with the D-backs on June 6, when he allowed three earned runs in 6 2/3 innings for a no-decision.
