Quarterback Not a Priority for Steelers in the Draft?
The Pittsburgh Steelers "have little if no intention of taking a quarterback with their top pick" in this year's NFL draft, according to Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Dulac goes on to say that "it's more than likely it wouldn't be until the third round" when they would consider taking a signal-caller. It's unclear if future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers even wants to play again next season, let alone return to the Steelers to reunite with head coach Mike McCarthy. The Steelers took Will Howard in the sixth round in 2025, and Dulac writes that the Steelers will only take a QB in this year's draft if they think he has a higher ceiling than Howard. Pittsburgh met with Penn State's Drew Allar, Miami's Carson Beck, and Alabama's Ty Simpson at last week's NFL scouting combine. The Steelers like Howard a lot, so if Rodgers doesn't return in 2026, it's very possible they're comfortable going into the regular season with Howard as their starter under center.
