Phillip Lindsay 2020 Outlook: Workload Will Decrease In Change-Of-Pace Role
5 years agoPhillip Lindsay burst onto the scene in 2018 as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado and managed a Pro Bowl selection on 192 carries, 1,037 rushing yards, nine rushing TDs, 35 receptions, 241 receiving yards and one receiving score. His yards-per-carry average dropped from 5.4 to 4.5 in 2019, but he had another 35 receptions and broke the 1,000-yard mark for the second straight year. What has that gotten him going into 2020? A demotion as a change-of-pace player to free-agent signing Melvin Gordon III. The shifty 5-foot-8, 190-pounder will continue to be involved, but his touches are expected to take a noticeable hit as long as Gordon remains healthy. There will be some mid-round appeal in PPR leagues, but Lindsay will mostly be considered as a handcuff for Gordon owners.
