Paul Skenes Strikes Out Eight in Tough-Luck Loss
Paul Skenes had another fantastic start on Tuesday, throwing eight one-run innings in a 3-0 loss against the Houston Astros. Skenes allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out eight. The 23-year-old has now rattled off five straight starts of six-plus innings and one run or less, and has allowed more than three runs only once this season. He now has a 4-6 record with a 2.05 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, and 85 strikeouts over 83 ⅓ IP. Skenes has lived up to his billing as one of the best pitchers in fantasy, even with his lack of wins due to a poor Pirates lineup. He will make his next start on Sunday at home against the Philadelphia Phillies in what will be a tough matchup.
