Panthers Fire Ron Rivera
5 years agoThe Carolina Panthers fired head coach Ron Rivera on Tuesday. The final straw for ownership was the Panthers getting upset at home by the Redskins in Week 13. Carolina currently sits in third place in the NFC South with a 5-7 record. Their loss this last Sunday was their fourth in a row and dropped them to a disappointing 2-4 record at home this year. In his nine seasons as the Panthers head coach, Rivera finishes with an overall record of 76-63-1. The entire coaching staff was fighting an uphill battle this year with Cam Newton missing most of the season and backup Kyle Allen proving to be nothing more than a game manager. With Rivera out of the mix, expect this offense to continue running through running back Christian McCaffrey. Secondary coach Perry Fewell will take over as the interim head coach for the final four games.
