Eagles Want To Get Extension Done With Jalen Hurts Soon
23 hours agoPhiladelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said at the NFL owners meetings on Monday that the team would like to sign quarterback Jalen Hurts to a contract extension "relatively soon." Roseman reiterated multiple times that getting Hurts on a long-term deal remains a priority. "We want him here long-term. It's going to be a priority for us to extend him...You have to navigate the offseason understanding that we're not going to lose our franchise quarterback with one year left on his deal," Roseman said. The former second-round pick is heading into the final year of his deal, but he'll almost certainly work something out with the Eagles to keep him around long term. After leading Philly to the cusp of a Super Bowl championship, Hurts will be one of the first QBs off the board in fantasy drafts this fall.Source: Philadelphia Inquirer - Josh Tolentino
Calais Campbell To Meet With Lions
1 day agoFree-agent defensive end Calais Campbell is scheduled to visit with the Detroit Lions on Thursday. The 36-year-old continues to meet with teams before he decides where he wants to play next season. The expectation is that Campbell wants to join a contender in what could be his last season in the NFL. He finished with 36 tackles, 5.5 sacks, and two fumbles forced in 14 games with the Baltimore Ravens last season. The six-time Pro Bowl pass rusher would certainly be an upgrade to this Lions defense.Source: Josina Anderson
Bryan Edwards Joins Saints
1 day agoFree-agent wide receiver Bryan Edwards has signed with the New Orleans Saints. The details of the contract haven't been announced, but it's assumed to be a one-year deal. The 24-year-old will reunite with his former teammate Derek Carr in New Orleans. The former third round pick has failed to solidify a role for himself in the NFL. Edwards has 48 receptions, 779 yards, and four touchdowns in parts of three seasons. He was cut by the Atlanta Falcons after seven games last season. Edwards appears to have the potential to be a legitimate option in the league, but he hasn't put it together yet. He remains nothing more than a dynasty stash right now.Source: Ian Rapoport
Deandre Hopkins Granted Permission To Seek Trade
1 day agoArizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has been given permission to speak with other teams regarding a possible trade. The veteran wideout is seeking a new contract and the Cardinals don't appear to have any interest in giving it to him. Hopkins is entering his age-31 season, but still has plenty left in the tank. He finished with 64 receptions, 717 yards, and three touchdowns in nine games last season. It seems like a down year for Hopkins, but he was forced to miss the first six games of the season due to a suspension. There is no doubt that Hopkins can still perform at a high level. However, organizations are likely hesitant because of the fact that Hopkins wants a new contract. The Cardinals are unlikely to get a significant return in any Hopkins trade due to the fact the other team would have to sign Hopkins to a new deal. This is likely a saga that is going to carry on throughout the offseason.Source: Sports Illustrated
49ers Planning To Exercise Brandon Aiyuk's Option
1 day agoSan Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is expected to remain with the team for at least one more season. The team is reportedly going to exercise Aiyuk's fifth-year option. Although, it's also worth noting that the 49ers have received trade interest in regards to Aiyuk. That doesn't come as a shock after Aiyuk posted a breakout campaign last season. He finished with 78 receptions, 1,015 yards and eight touchdowns with the 49ers. Aiyuk has certainly put himself in line for big payday, which is something the 49ers might not be able to afford. They already signed Samuel to a massive extension, so we'll see if they want to pay two wide receivers big time money. Regardless, it doesn't sound like the 49ers have any plans of moving on from Aiyuk at this moment.Source: Nick Wagoner
Brock Purdy Viewed As Starter
1 day agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (elbow) has earned the right to start, according to general manager John Lynch. He continued by saying that Purdy is the leader in the clubhouse. The 23-year-old is currently recovering from a torn UCL that he suffered during the NFL Championship Game. That being said, Purdy is not expected to be cleared until the second week of September. While, former No. 3 overall pick Trey Lance should get all the first-team reps and be the favorite to start Week 1. It'll be interesting to see what the 49ers decide to do once both players are healthy. Purdy went 5-0 in the regular season and had his team one win away from a Super Bowl. Although, Lance is viewed as their future and the team gave up quite a lot in order to draft him.Source: Nick Wagoner
Lamar Jackson Requests Trade
1 day agoBaltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson decided to take to social media right before head coach John Harbaugh was going to speak to the media on Monday. Jackson claims he asked to be traded on March 2nd due to the Ravens lack of interest in meeting his value. The team claims that the two sides are still discussing a contract and talked last week. It doesn't sound like this contract situation is anywhere close to being over. It doesn't appear that Jackson has an issue with Baltimore, but the former MVP wants a better offer than what he has received in the past. This trade request news might only be to put more pressure on the Ravens to get a deal done.Source: Lamar Jackson

Bills Will Support Damar Hamlin About Return Decision
2 days agoBuffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin hopes to return, and the team pledges to help him while being mindful of the risk. Speaking to NFL Network's Judy Battista, head coach Sean McDermott indicated that the franchise has already discussed the mental and emotional components of playing again with Hamlin. "The best thing we can do is support him all the way through this," commented McDermott. "I'm ready to support him in any direction he decides to go, even if it's last minute." The 25-year-old appeared in 15 games last season, totaling 91 tackles and 1.5 sacks. However, he went into cardiac arrest after making a tackle during a Monday Night Football meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals in January and was placed on life support. Fortunately, he's now out of the hospital and appears healthy. With that said, there will be a lot of hurdles to get over before Hamlin is back on the field, so his availability for the 2023-24 campaign (and beyond) is up in the air.Source: Mike Florio
Brandon Staley Wants Austin Ekeler To Remain A Charger
2 days agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler has been vocal this offseason about his contract situation. Although the team reportedly permitted the Pro Bowler to seek a trade, head coach Brandon Staley provided an update. "We've been in full communication with his team," commented Staley while speaking to NFL Network's Steve Wyche on Sunday. "We want him to be a Charger." Of course, Staley's comment about retaining Ekeler is a no-brainer, considering the 27-year-old totaled 1,637 rushing and receiving yards while combining for 18 touchdowns during the 2022-23 campaign. He's entering the final year of his contract and is due to make $6.25 million. But Ekeler has also openly expressed his desire to remain in Los Angeles, so the ball now appears to be in the office's hands.Source: Charean Williams
Courtland Sutton Won't Be Traded
2 days agoDenver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton has been a name in the news during the offseason. Many clubs have apparently expressed interest. However, at the Annual League Meeting, Sean Payton reiterated that the wideout isn't on the market. The 27-year-old had 1,112 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 2019 while earning a trip to the Pro Bowl. Yet, he suffered a knee injury the following year and hasn't been as productive over the last two seasons. With Denver reportedly looking for picks ahead of the 2023 NFL Draft, Payton's stance may change if the team receives an attractive offer. It's also worth noting Payton indicated he Jerry Jeudy won't be moved, either. But there's a recent story from ESPN's Jeff Legwold linking Jeudy to New England, so stay tuned.Source: Bobby Kownack
Jerry Jeudy To The Patriots?
2 days agoDenver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy remains in the news. Despite months of trade speculation, head coach Sean Payton reaffirmed that the 23-year-old isn't on the market, a comment he made to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero during the Annual League Meeting. However, ESPN's Jeff Legwold reported the opposite while adding that the Patriots may be the favorite to acquire the wideout. Per Legwold, New England could be willing to move some picks, something Denver has reportedly been looking for in return. Jeudy had the best year of his career in 2022, finishing with 67 catches for 972 yards and six touchdowns. He was also teammates with Mac Jones at Alabama, which has provided more traction to this story. The Broncos have until May 1 to pick up Jeudy's fifth-year option, although there should be more updates and rumors moving ahead.Source: Justin Leger
McDermott "Nervous" About Number Of Hits On Josh Allen
2 days agoWhile speaking to NFL Network's Judy Battista, head coach Sean McDermott admitted he's "absolutely nervous" about the amount of hits quarterback Josh Allen took last season. "I don't think that's a healthy way to play QB in this league," McDermott said. "We haveread more...
Patrick Mahomes "Doing Good"
2 days agoKansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (ankle) continues to work his way back from a high-ankle sprain suffered during the postseason. Andy Reid Expects Skyy Moore To "Step Up"
2 days agoKansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid expects wide receiver Skyy Moore to "step up" this season. The wideout had plenty of hype entering the 2022-23 campaign, his inaugural season in the league. However, he finished the year with only 22 catches for 250 yards while being held without a touchdown. Of course, Patrick Mahomes had more than enough pass-catchers at his disposal, with Travis Kelce remaining his preferred target. But with JuJu Smith-Schuster and Mecole Hardman now gone via free agency, the door is open for Moore to benefit. With that said, this isn't the first time we've heard a coach talk about the anticipated progression of a player. Yet, Reid has mentioned the 2022 second-round pick a lot this offseason, which is never bad for fantasy purposes.Source: Christian Gonzales
