Giants Signing Tommy Sweeney
1 day agoThe New York Giants are signing free-agent tight end Tommy Sweeney to an undisclosed deal on Thursday, according to a source. Sweeney is a former seventh-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2019 out of Boston College, and he spent the last three seasons playing for the Bills, where he totaled 18 catches on 26 targets for 165 yards and one touchdown in 24 games (four starts). The 27-year-old will provide the Giants with some depth at the position behind recently acquired Darren Waller and Daniel Bellinger. The G-Men also have tight ends Lawrence Cager and Chris Myarick on their current roster. Sweeney will be far from the fantasy radar in 2023.Source: ESPN New York - Jordan Raanan
Zay Flowers To Meet With Saints, Giants
1 day agoBoston College wide receiver Zay Flowers will have back-to-back dinners with the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants on Thursday night before his Pro Day on Friday, according to a source. Flowers is expected to come off the board in the first round next month, and he put on 13 pounds of muscle in pre-combine training. The Saints pick at No. 29 in the first round, while the Giants sit at No. 25, so if either team really wants him, they may have to trade up within the first round. In his final collegiate campaign, Flowers recorded 78 catches for 1,077 yards and 12 touchdowns for Boston College. The Giants have already added Parris Campbell and Jamison Crowder in free agency, but they'll surely look for a bigger difference-maker at the position in the draft.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
Bryce Young Meets With Raiders
1 day agoFollowing dinner with the Carolina Panthers on Wednesday night, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young met with the Las Vegas Raiders before his Pro Day on Thursday. The Raiders currently hold the seventh overall pick in this year's draft, but it's highly unlikely that Young will be available at that pick. If the Raiders want Young that badly, they'll have to trade up into the top five. The Raiders signed quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a three-year, $67.5 million deal in free agency, but Young would obviously become their franchise signal-caller if they were to land him in the draft. If Young isn't off the board within the first two picks (Panthers and Houston Texans), it would be a huge surprise.Source: NFL Network - Mike Garofolo
Bills Headline Trade Market For DeAndre Hopkins
1 day agoArizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins' trade market is headlined by the Buffalo Bills, according to league sources. The five-time Pro Bowler has plenty of interest on the trade market, but financial expectations could impact any further interest from the Kansas City Chiefs. The wide receiver-needy Baltimore Ravens are not among the bidders for his services, according to sources. The 30-year-old wideout played in only nine games for the Cardinals in 2022 due to a suspension and an injury, and he finished with 64 receptions, 717 yards and three touchdowns. Adding Nuk to a receiving corps that already includes Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis in Buffalo would be very exciting for quarterback Josh Allen.Source: KPRC 2 Sports - Aaron Wilson
Jets Bring Back Ty Johnson
1 day agoThe New York Jets reached an agreement to re-sign running back Ty Johnson to an undisclosed one-year deal on Thursday, according to a source. The former sixth-round pick by the Detroit Lions in 2019 has spent the last two full seasons providing running back depth for the Jets. In 17 games (one start) for Gang Green in 2022, he had 30 carries for 160 yards and one touchdown, adding 12 receptions for 88 yards through the air. The 25-year-old also contributes on special teams, but he won't enter the 2023 season with any fantasy appeal behind Breece Hall, Michael Carter and Zonovan Knight.Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
KJ Hamler To Miss 4-6 Months With Torn Pec
1 day agoDenver Broncos wide receiver KJ Hamler (pectoral) recently underwent surgery to fix a partially torn pectoral that he suffered while training on his own this offseason, according to sources. Hamler's recovery timeline is four to six months, which will give him a chance to be ready right around the start of training camp in late July. Injuries continue to hurt the 23-year-old pass-catcher, as Hamler has played a combined 23 games (six starts) for the Broncos since the team selected him in the second round in 2020 out of Penn State. He played in just seven games in 2022 due to a hamstring ailment and finished with seven catches for 165 yards. Hamler provides an interesting deep threat when healthy, but he remains off the fantasy radar for now.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
Giants Agree To Terms With Jamison Crowder
1 day agoThe New York Giants agreed to terms on an undisclosed one-year deal with free-agent wide receiver Jamison Crowder on Thursday. The veteran slot man played in just four games in his lone season with the Buffalo Bills in 2022 due to a fractured ankle, and he caught six of his 13 targets for 60 yards and no touchdowns. The Giants could still use more help at the wide receiver position and will likely add some pass-catchers in the upcoming draft, but Crowder will give the G-Men some depth in the slot behind Wan'Dale Robinson, who is coming off a torn ACL in his rookie season. The 29-year-old won't enter the 2023 season as much of a fantasy asset, as he hasn't done much since recording 699 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 59 catches for the New York Jets in 2020.Source: Giants Twitter
Mecole Hardman Ahead Of Schedule
1 day agoNew York Jets wide receiver Mecole Hardman (groin) said he's ahead of schedule after surgery, which took place around a month ago. He's hoping to be fully healthy before organized team activities begin. Hardman signed a one-year, $6.5 million deal with the Jets on Wednesday. The 25-year-old pass-catcher played in only eight games with the Kansas City Chiefs last year due to his core injury, catching 25 of 34 targets for 297 yards and four touchdowns. Hardman's speed is intriguing, but it remains to be seen how big of a role he'll have with Gang Green in an offense that also includes wideouts Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard and Corey Davis. There are rumblings that the Jets could also sign Odell Beckham Jr.Source: NewYorkJets.com - Ethan Greenberg
49ers Sign Austin Bryant To One-Year Deal
1 day agoThe San Francisco 49ers signed former Detroit Lions defensive end/linebacker Austin Bryant to an undisclosed one-year deal on Wednesday, according to a source. The former fourth-round pick out of Clemson in 2019 has played in 33 career NFL games (six starts) in his four seasons with the Lions. He played in only nine games (zero starts) in 2022 and finished with nine tackles (seven solo). In Bryant's four seasons, he's racked up 65 tackles (42 solo), 4.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss and 11 QB hits for the Lions. The 26-year-old can be ignored by fantasy managers in IDP leagues, as Bryant will play a depth role for the 49ers in 2023.Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero
Jalen Reeves-Maybin Returns To Lions
1 day agoFree-agent linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday, according to his agent Brian McLaughlin. Reeves-Maybin was originally a fourth-round pick by the Lions in 2017 and spent the first five seasons of his NFL career in Detroit before playing for the Houston Texans in 2022. In 17 games (zero starts) for Houston in 2022, he had just 15 tackles (nine solo) and a fumble recovery after posting a career-high 82 combined tackles in 2021 with Detroit. The 28-year-old will return to the Lions to provide depth in the linebacking corps. He can be ignored in IDP fantasy formats.Source: KPRC 2 Sports - Aaron Wilson
James Cook, Damien Harris To Share Backfield
1 day agoBuffalo Bills running back James Cook is expected to share the backfield with newcomer Damien Harris in 2023. Standing at 5-foot-11, 213 pounds, Harris will provide the thump that cook and pass-catching back Nyheim Hines lack. In his rookie campaign in 2022, Cook impressed with 507 yards and two touchdowns on 89 carries while adding 21 receptions for 180 yards and a touchdown in 16 games. The 23-year-old should see much more volume in his sophomore season, making him an attractive fantasy back, although Harris could end up stealing some valuable goal-line work. Meanwhile, Hines will probably continue to have a limited pass-catching role like he did last year after being acquired in a trade with the Indianapolis Colts.Source: BuffaloBills.com - Maddy Glab
Tony Pollard Signs Franchise Tag
1 day agoDallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard signed his franchise tag on Thursday, according to sources. He is due $10.091 million in 2023, and Pollard and the Cowboys have until July 17 to work out a long-term extension. The Cowboys recently cut Ezekiel Elliott and signed Ronald Jones, so Pollard is set to enter the 2023 season as Dallas' primary running back. However, there's a very real chance the team could add more backfield help in April's draft, especially since Pollard's availability early on could be in jeopardy after he had ankle surgery in January. When healthy, the explosive 25-year-old back has clear RB1 upside in this offense.Source: ESPN Dallas - Todd Archer
Bengals Have Had Trade Talks Centered Around Jonah Williams
1 day agoThe Cincinnati Bengals have had trade talks centered around left tackle Jonah Williams. A Williams trade is expected at this point after the Bengals signed left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. to a big deal in free agency this offseason. Williams has been Cincy's starting left tackle for the last several years, but he requested a trade earlier this offseason and is likely to have his wish granted eventually. There's a possibility that he could move to right tackle, although it's not his preference. It's hard to find a good and dependable left tackle in the NFL, so there is real interest in Williams around the league. No trade is imminent as of right now, but that could change in a hurry.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
Vikings Give C.J. Ham A Two-Year Extension
1 day agoThe Minnesota Vikings agreed to an undisclosed two-year contract extension with fullback C.J. Ham on Wednesday. As a fullback, Ham has no value in fantasy football, but he's an important real-life player for the Vikings. The 29-year-old has spent all six of his NFL seasons in Minnesota and made his only Pro Bowl with the team back in 2019. In his six years with the Vikes, he's totaled 36 carries for 97 yards and three touchdowns, adding 70 receptions for 610 yards and another two touchdowns in 96 total games (33 starts). Ham also contributes on special teams. In 2022, he saw just four carries for seven yards and two touchdowns and added 10 receptions for 86 yards in 17 games (four starts).Source: KPRC 2 Sports - Aaron Wilson
Jets Interest In Odell Beckham Jr. "Very Real"
1 day agoThe New York Jets' interest in free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is "very real," according to sources. Beckham and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers are close and have discussed playing together in New York. And with the Jets trading Elijah Moore to the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday, there is an opening in New York. OBJ tore his left ACL in the Super Bowl with the Rams in February of 2022 and didn't play at all in 2023. The 30-year-old looked great for the Rams in the postseason that year, but it remains to be seen how effective he'll be after a full year off. The Jets shipped Moore away, but they still have Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, Mecole Hardman and Corey Davis, so Beckham could struggle for consistent targets if he lands in New York.Source: SNY - Connor Hughes
