1 month agoFree-agent linebacker Ezekiel Turner signed an undisclosed one-year deal with the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday, giving him a prime opportunity to showcase his skills at linebacker and as a core special teams contributor. Turner will remain in the NFC West after spending the first six seasons of his NFL career with the Arizona Cardinals after he entered the league in the desert in 2018 as an undrafted free agent out of Washington. The 27-year-old has mostly worked on special teams in his career and has a total of just 83 tackles (45 solo) and a forced fumble in 80 career games played (three starts) with Arizona. Turner will most likely serve in a special teams role again in 2024 in his new digs. He's not at all on the fantasy radar in IDP setups.Source: KPRC 2 Sports - Aaron Wilson
1 month agoFormer San Francisco 49ers linebacker Oren Burks signed a one-year deal worth up to $2.5 million with the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, according to a source. Burks is a special teams standout who played in 15 regular-season games (five starts) for San Fran last year, picking up a career-high 46 tackles (29 solo), a career-high one sack, his first career interception and a fumble recovery. The 28-year-old former third-round pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2018 out of Vanderbilt was mostly a special teams player in his previous five seasons in the NFL, but he saw an expanded defensive role in 2023 with the Niners. Don't expect Burks to play quite as much on defense as a linebacker in his new home in Philadelphia in 2024.Source: The Athletic - Dianna Russini
1 month agoFree-agent defensive tackle Adam Butler re-signed with the Las Vegas Raiders on an undisclosed one-year deal on Saturday, according to a source. Butler had 28 tackles (16 solo), five sacks, eight tackles for loss, nine QB hits and a forced fumble in 17 games (zero starts) in 2023 in his first year with the Raiders. The 29-year-old came into the league in 2017 with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free-agent out of Vanderbilt. Butler will be expected to once again be a rotational player for the Raiders in 2024 on the interior of their defensive line. In his six NFL seasons to this point, Butler has recorded 141 tackles (79 solo), 22 sacks, 30 tackles for loss, 36 QB hits, 16 passes defensed and two forced fumbles in 97 games (13 starts). He will not be on the IDP fantasy radar at all.Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler
1 month agoThe Cleveland Browns re-signed safety Rodney McLeod (biceps) to an undisclosed one-year deal on Saturday, the team announced. McLeod is coming off surgery to fix a torn biceps, but he's been an excellent leader for the defense and is another former Jim Schwartz player from their time together with the Philadelphia Eagles. The 33-year-old former undrafted free agent was limited to just 10 games (five starts) in his first year in Cleveland in 2023 due to his biceps injury, and he ultimately finished with 29 tackles (16 solo). He was also a key contributor on special teams and is expected to fill a similar role in 2024 in his second year with the Browns. McLeod has racked up 718 tackles (508 solo), two sacks, 25 tackles for loss, 18 interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), 61 passes defended, 11 forced fumbles and nine fumble recoveries (two returned for TDs) in his 12 NFL seasons with four different teams.Source: Cleveland Browns
1 month agoFree-agent linebacker Denzel Perryman is eyeing a potential return to the Los Angeles Chargers, the team that drafted him in the second round in 2015 out of Miami of Florida. The two sides have been talking about a reunion after Perryman spent the first six years of his NFL career playing for the Bolts. He was a Pro Bowler for the first time in 2021 with the Las Vegas Raiders and spent the 2023 campaign recording 76 tackles (45 solo), half a sack and six tackles for loss in 12 regular season games (11 starts) for the Houston Texans. The 31-year-old veteran was suspended for two games due to illegal hits. While Perryman isn't really much of an option in IDP fantasy leagues at this stage of his career, he would be a nice linebacker addition for a Chargers team that lost Pro Bowler Eric Kendricks in free agency this offseason.Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler
1 month agoThe Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans are two of the top teams trying to trade for Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L'Jarius Sneed this offseason, but Sneed's asking price is too high right now, according to a source. For now, Sneed remains with the Chiefs on the $19.8 million franchise tag for 2024. The 27-year-old former fourth-round pick by KC in 2020 out of Louisiana Tech was the No. 37 defensive back in IDP fantasy scoring last year with 78 tackles (60 solo), five tackles for loss, two interceptions, a career-high 14 passes defended and a fumble recovery in 16 regular-season starts. Sneed has thrived in defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's scheme in his four years in Kansas City and was a big part of the team's Super Bowl run last year. With the Chiefs focused on an extension for pass-rusher Chris Jones, the likeliest outcome will be Sneed moving to another team this offseason.Source: SI.com - Matt Verderame
1 month agoFree-agent wide receiver Braxton Berrios re-signed with the Miami Dolphins on Saturday on a one-year deal worth up to $3 million, according to his agents, Drew Rosenhaus and Robert Bailey. Berrios will return to Miami to provide receiving depth behind Tyreek Hill, Jaylen Waddle and Erik Ezukanma in 2024. The 28-year-old former sixth-round selection of the New England Patriots in 2018 out of Miami of Florida caught 27 of his 33 targets for 238 yards and one touchdown in 16 regular-season games (one start) last year in his first year with the Dolphins. Berrios isn't on the fantasy radar unless your league counts points for return yards, as he's likely to be Miami's primary kick returner again in 2024. In five NFL seasons, Berrios has 134 receptions for 1,323 yards and only six touchdowns in 81 games (six starts).Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter
1 month agoPittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin reached out to quarterback Russell Wilson on Saturday night when the team was trading for Justin Fields to let him know that he was still considered the team's starter going into the 2024 season. However, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that while that is Tomlin's plan, Fields is going to compete, regardless. The 35-year-old Wilson will open the regular season as Pittsburgh's starter after a bounce-back campaign in 2023 in his final season with the Denver Broncos, but the aging signal-caller is going to need to play well to hold off Fields, who has more fantasy upside because of his elite rushing abilities. With George Pickens, Van Jefferson and Calvin Austin III currently the team's top-three receivers, Wilson will be a high-end QB2, at best, in fantasy for what will likely be a run-first offense.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
1 month agoFree-agent linebacker Jerome Baker agreed to a one-year, $7 million contract with Seattle on Saturday. The 27-year-old finished last season by totaling 78 tackles, two picks, and 1.5 sacks in 13 games with Miami. However, after injuring his knee in December, he underwent wrist surgery in January and was released by the Dolphins in March due to a failed physical designation. Baker should have a clear path for snaps throughout the 2024-25 campaign. While he has had some solid years since entering the league in 2018, he must prove he can remain healthy moving ahead. That said, Baker still has a place on IDP rosters.Source: ESPN
1 month agoFree-agent wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones agreed to a one-year deal on Saturday to remain with the Lions. The wideout began his career by spending over three years with the Browns before being traded to Detroit ahead of the deadline last season. He appeared in eight regular-season games for the Lions, catching only five of his seven targets for 58 yards. Yet, Peoples-Jones did at least come in handy as a punt returner during the postseason after Kalif Raymond went down with a knee injury. The organization still feels the 25-year-old has some untapped potential. However, it's too early to speculate where Peoples-Jones will land on the depth chart heading into the 2024-25 campaign, considering he'll compete with Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and possibly Josh Reynolds for snaps. The team may also add via the 2024 NFL Draft. With this in mind, he's someone to watch throughout training camp.Source: Jordan Schultz
1 month agoFree-agent wide receiver Chris Conley agreed to a one-year deal with the 49ers on Saturday. The journeyman wideout has played for five teams throughout his career, making stops in Kansas City, Jacksonville, Houston, and Tennessee before appearing in eight regular season games for San Francisco in 2023-24. He finished the year by catching just three passes (six targets) for 69 yards while failing to find the end zone. The 49ers still have Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and Brandon Aiyuk as their primary receivers, so Conley will continue to have a tough time getting looks from Brock Purdy, meaning he won't see much attention from fantasy managers heading into the 2024-25 campaign.Source: Charean Williams
1 month agoThe Chicago Bears traded quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a conditional 2025 sixth-round pick. Based on playing time, the sixth-round pick can become a fourth-round selection. With Fields shipped to Pittsburgh, the Bears are set to select USC quarterbackread more...
1 month agoThe Carolina Panthers are set to bring in former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Gallup for a visit next week, according to a source. Even though the Panthers acquired receiver Diontae Johnson from the Pittsburgh Steelers earlier this week, they continue to look to add weapons on offense after quarterback Bryce Young struggled mightily in his rookie season in 2023. In addition to Gallup, the Panthers will visit with Mike Williams (knee), who was recently released by the Los Angeles Chargers for salary cap purposes. The 28-year-old Gallup would join Johnson, Adam Thielen and Jonathan Mingo if he were to sign with the Panthers. Gallup had 1,000 yards in his sophomore season in 2019 in Dallas but has been on the decline since and hasn't had more than 445 receiving yards in each of the last three seasons.Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport
1 month agoThe Arizona Cardinals have been open for business at the No. 4 overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft, and The Athletic's Jeff Howe speculates that they might be a match for a trade with the Minnesota Vikings, who are looking to trade up within the top-five picks for a new franchise quarterback after losing Kirk Cousins to the Atlanta Falcons. The Washington Commanders (No. 2) and New England Patriots (No. 3) probably won't want to move all the way back to No. 11, miss out on a QB and likely be out of the mix for a top-tier receiver and left tackle. Arizona traded the No. 3 pick to the Texans just last year, and they are committed to QB Kyler Murray, which means they could welcome another trade down the board to accumulate more first-rounders as they attempt to acquire difference-makers around Murray on offense.Source: The Athletic - Jeff Howe
1 month agoThe Los Angeles Chargers signed free-agent defensive tackle Poona Ford to an undisclosed one-year deal this week, according to league sources. Ford will have an excellent chance for playing time with the Chargers in 2024 and will have a chance to hit the market again next offseason as an ascending player. Ford entered the league as an undrafted free agent in 2018 out of Texas and spent the first five years of his NFL career playing for the Seattle Seahawks before playing in eight games with the Buffalo Bills last season. The 28-year-old had nine tackles (five solo) and a sack in his eight games with Buffalo in 2023 and has 190 tackles (109 solo), 8.5 sacks, 29 tackles for loss, 30 QB hits, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 84 career games (64 starts) over his six NFL seasons.Source: KPRC 2 Sports - Aaron Wilson
