Jaxon Smith-Njigba Dominates Targets in Seattle, Records 124 Receiving Yards in Week 1
Jaxon Smith-Njigba hauled in nine catches for 124 receiving yards in his team's 17-13 Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Smith-Njigba completely dominated targets in the season opener, as he was targeted 13 times by Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold out of 23 total pass attempts. Smith-Njigba looked like his team's clear WR1 in his first game playing alongside veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who was targeted just three times. Smith-Njigba could be on the verge of a superstar breakout and is a must-start fantasy wide receiver.

Geno Smith Throws for 362 Yards in Season-Opening Victory
Geno Smith made a big impression in his first game under center for the team, a 20-13 road victory over the New England Patriots. Smith completed 24 of 34 pass attempts for 362 yards, throwing a touchdown and an interception as well. The 34-year-old spread the ball around as well, completing passes to seven different Raiders receivers. If there's any bad news for Smith coming out of Sunday, it's that star tight end Brock Bowers (knee) left the game in the fourth quarter with a knee injury. Smith's fantasy outlook for his Week 2 matchup at home against the Los Angeles Chargers would be improved if Bowers can play.

Marvin Harrison Jr. Records Touchdown Grab in Week 1 Victory
Marvin Harrison Jr. recorded five catches on six targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in his team's 20-13 Week 1 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Harrison Jr. led Arizona in receiving yards, but was out-targeted by his teammate, star tight end Trey McBride (nine). Entering his second season, Harrison Jr. is expected to take a leap after posting modest numbers (relative to expectations) as a rookie in 2024. The touchdown grab is obviously a positive sign, but Harrison Jr.'s 20.7% target share in Week 1 is lower than fantasy managers should be hoping for.

Puka Nacua Leads Rams in Targets, Catches, and Receiving Yards in Week 1
Puka Nacua led the Rams with 10 catches on 11 targets for 130 yards in his team's 14-9 win over the Houston Texans in Week 1. Nacua had an injury scare when a blow to the helmet left his face bloodied and forced him to leave the game, but he was able to return after receiving stitches and passing concussion tests. The 24-year-old led Los Angeles in targets in his first game sharing the field with veteran wide receiver Davante Adams, who had four catches for 51 yards on eight targets. Nacua looked every bit the part of a dominant fantasy WR1 in Week 1. He'll have an easier matchup next week against the Tennessee Titans.

Kyler Murray Throws for Two Touchdowns, Rushes Seven Times in Season Opener
Kyler Murray did not have his most efficient game in Week 1, but he was able to do enough to lead his team to a 20-13 victory over the New Orleans Saints. Murray was 21 of 29 for 163 yards and two touchdowns as a passer and added 38 yards on seven rush attempts. The seven rush attempts could be considered a positive sign for fantasy managers hoping Murray would use his legs more in 2025. Murray rushed more than seven times in a single game just once in 2024. The 28-year-old profiles as a low-end fantasy QB1 and has a favorable matchup next week at home against the Carolina Panthers.

Christian McCaffrey Logs 31 Touches in Season Opener
Christian McCaffrey was the central focus of his team's offense in a 17-13 49ers' win over the Seattle Seahawks in Week 1. McCaffrey rushed 22 times for 69 yards and caught nine passes for 73 yards, a comforting sign for fantasy managers who might have been worried that a lingering calf issue would lead to San Francisco limiting his touches early in the season. The 49ers lost two offensive weapons in George Kittle (groin) and Jauan Jennings (shoulder) during the game. If Kittle and Jennings miss time going forward, San Francisco could be forced to lean on McCaffrey just as heavily in the weeks to come. As long as he's on the field, he's a must-start fantasy running back with game-breaking upside.

Travis Etienne Jr. Dominates Backfield Touches in Jacksonville, Posts Monster Day
Travis Etienne Jr. had a monster game in his team's 26-10 Week 1 victory over the Carolina Panthers. Etienne Jr. rushed 16 times for 143 yards and added three catches for 13 yards as well. It wasn't clear coming into the season how Jacksonville would split backfield work between running backs Etienne Jr., Tank Bigsby, Bhayshul Tuten, and LeQuint Allen Jr. However, it was Etienne Jr. who dominated touches in Week 1. His 16 carries were almost double what Jacksonville's other three backs earned combined (nine). Allen Jr. was also the only other Jaguars running back to earn a target, so Etienne Jr. looks like he could be in line for a three-down role. As long as he continues to work in a clear lead role, Etienne Jr. could provide fantasy RB2 production going forward.

Michael Pittman Jr. Scores Touchdown in Big Season Opener
Michael Pittman Jr. caught six of eight targets for 80 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's Week 1 win over the Miami Dolphins. Although tight end Tyler Warren led the team in targets and catches, Pittman led the team in receiving yards and was also the only Colt to catch a touchdown pass on Sunday. He was one of several Colts players to exceed their fantasy projections amidst a staggering 33-8 Indianapolis victory. Pittman benefited from playing against a subpar Dolphins defense, and things could get more difficult for him next week against the Denver Broncos. Nevertheless, Pittman's strong start to the season puts him in the low-end WR2 conversation for fantasy football going forward.

Jayden Daniels Runs for 68 Yards on Top of Solid Passing Performance
Jayden Daniels completed 19 of his 30 pass attempts for 233 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions during Sunday's Week 1 win over the New York Giants. He also rushed for 68 yards on 11 attempts. While Daniels only had the one touchdown, it was still a solid day for him in terms of rushing production and playing turnover-free football. Last year's No. 2 pick opened the 2025 season on an impressive note, but his competition will get tougher next week when he faces the Green Bay Packers, led by newcomer Micah Parsons. Green Bay's defense just held Detroit to 13 points, of which seven came during garbage time. Daniels still ranks as a mid-range QB1 thanks to his rushing ability.

Garrett Wilson Catches Big Touchdown Pass Sunday
Garrett Wilson caught seven of his nine targets for 95 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's Week 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. His touchdown came on a big 33-yard strike from Justin Fields in their first game together. Wilson's big game should excite fantasy managers going forward. There was no question that Wilson is an impact receiver with big upside, but it was a little unclear what his role would look like in a Fields-led offense. Now, we have our answer, and it's exciting. Wilson remains a high-end WR2 with legitimate WR1 upside heading into next week's game against the Buffalo Bills.

Giants Won't Commit to Russell Wilson as Week 2 Starter
Russell Wilson as the team's starting quarterback for Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys. Speaking after the team's season-opening loss to the Washington Commanders, Daboll would not give any indication whether he was leaning toward starting Wilson or rookie Jaxson Dart moving forward. Wilson turned in a subpar performance Sunday, completing just 17 of his 37 pass attempts for 168 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He also rushed for 44 yards and fumbled (but recovered it himself). While Wilson did play turnover-free football, he struggled to move the Giants down the field, ultimately executing zero touchdown drives and two field goal drives. It was previously reported that the Giants would feel comfortable giving Dart snaps as early as Week 1 if necessary, so perhaps he'll get onto the field sooner than we initially expected. Regardless of which New York quarterback starts next week, they'll rank as a QB3 in fantasy football.

Drake London Day-to-Day with Shoulder Sprain
Drake London (shoulder) is day-to-day after being diagnosed with a shoulder sprain, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He exited in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, finishing the contest with 15 targets, eight catches, and 55 yards. London will have more diagnostic tests, but the Falcons believe that their No. 1 receiver avoided a potentially serious injury. This is good news for Atlanta, which will strongly benefit from having him available in a potential high-scoring affair against the Minnesota Vikings next week. There's also a chance that Darnell Mooney (shoulder), who missed Sunday's game, could return in Week 2 alongside London. Unless we get an unfavorable update on London's status, he should be treated as a low-end WR1.

George Kittle and Jauan Jennings to Undergo MRIs
George Kittle (hamstring) and wide receiver Jauan Jennings (left shoulder) will undergo MRIs and additional testing over the next 24 hours, according to Nick Wagoner of ESPN. Both players departed Week 1 with their respective injuries, leaving the 49ers short-staffed in the passing game. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to additional updates from the 49ers organization on Monday. In the event that neither Kittle nor Jennings can play next week, players like Ricky Pearsall, Russell Gage Jr., and Luke Farrell would earn increased targets.

49ers to Evaluate Kicker Position After Jake Moody Struggles
Jake Moody went 1-for-3 on field goal attempts Sunday. One of his kicks was blocked, while the other hit off the left upright from just 27 yards out. Moody's struggles are nothing new, as he went 2-for-6 on field goals over his final three games in 2024. Of course, that means Moody is now just 3-for-9 on field goals over his last four regular-season games dating back to last year. Finding an effective field goal kicker in free agency isn't easy, but the 49ers could soon get desperate if Moody's struggles continue. Shanahan's comments indicate that the Niners aren't committed to replacing the 25-year-old, but they'll at least do their due diligence.

Baker Mayfield Throws for Three Touchdowns in Low-Yardage Win
Baker Mayfield completed 17 of his 32 pass attempts for 167 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Sunday's Week 1 win over the Atlanta Falcons. He also led the team with 39 rushing yards. Although Mayfield posted an abnormally low yardage total and low completion percentage, he excelled otherwise, playing turnover-free football and taking just one sack. All in all, it was a very rewarding day for his fantasy managers, and it even culminated in a three-point Buccaneers victory. Mayfield should continue to rank as a mid-range QB1 heading into next week's contest against the Houston Texans.
