4 days agoGolden State Warriors point/shooting guard Alec Burks finished second on his club in scoring during Friday’s overtime defeat to the Minnesota Timberwolves, going for 18 points on 5-for-10 shooting off the bench. Burks continues to pace Golden State’s second unit with injuries severely hampering the roster, as he also added nine rebounds and two blocks across his 32 minutes. Expect Burks to see a sustained healthy dosage of minutes moving forward, with his DFS potential enhanced on nights when D'Angelo Russell is unable to suit up.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

4 days agoMinnesota Timberwolves small/power forward Robert Covington did not have a stellar night shooting the ball (5-for-15 overall, 2-for-10 from deep), but he did manage to notch his second double-double of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds to his credit. In addition, he was a menace on the defensive end of the floor as usual, adding five steals and three blocks to his stat line. He appears dead set on shooting himself out of his early season slump from long range, having fired up 6.4 three-point attempts per game, right on line with where he was last season. His 11 rebounds marked a season high and a welcome sight after four consecutive games with four or fewer.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

4 days agoMinnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns delivered a 20-point, 14-rebound double-double during Friday’s overtime victory against the Golden State Warriors. Minnesota’s star center has opened the year with six consecutive outings with multiple made threes as Towns knocked down two more Friday, in addition to the four assists that he added across his 36 minutes. He has appears not to have missed a beat since returning from suspension, although he should receive a boost when point guard Jeff Teague (illness) returns. Towns is next set to clash with Nuggets star Nikola Jokic when the two teams meet Sunday.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

4 days agoIf Friday’s contest is any indication, the remainder of the 2019-20 season is going to be an exciting one for D'Angelo Russell from a personal standpoint. In his first game back after a three-contest absence due to injury, Russell’s usage reached absurd proportions, finishing with a career-high 52 points on 19-for-37 shooting, including going 7-for-17 from long range. With myriad stars out of the mix for Golden State, it appears that when healthy, Russell will be the go-to man on a nightly basis, and then some. In addition to his scoring, he tied for the team lead with nine rebounds, also adding five assists, three steals and two blocks to a sensational statistical evening. He’ll aim for a repeat performance Saturday when he faces Oklahoma City on the second leg of a back-to-back.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

4 days agoMinnesota Timberwolves shooting guard/small forward Andrew Wiggins was vital to his team’s win over the Golden State Warriors on Friday, having forced overtime with a bucket in the waning seconds of regulation, in addition to burying the clinching three in overtime. Overall, Wiggins finished with 40 points on 17-for-33 shooting across 45 minutes. With the duo of Jeff Teague (illness) and Shabazz Napier (hamstring) out, Wiggins was tasked with more ball-handling duties than normal, dishing out a team-high seven assists in addition to the five rebounds that he collected. So long as Minnesota remains short-handed, Wiggins appears to be a fantastic fantasy commodity, next set to face Denver on Sunday, one of nine teams that he has averaged better than 20 points per game against for his career.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: ESPN

4 days agoToronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry and power forward/center Serge Ibaka have both been sidelined for the remainder of Friday’s contest versus the New Orleans Pelicans due to respective injuries. Lowry is dealing with a left thumb sprain, while Ibaka has a sprained right ankle. Norman Powell was on the floor to open the second half in place of Lowry, while Chris Boucher could see some additional minutes off the bench in Ibaka’s stead. The next chance that either man will have to return comes Sunday versus the Lakers.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: Andrew Lopez

4 days agoLos Angeles Lakers shooting guard Avery Bradley has been cleared to suit up during Friday’s contest against the Miami Heat. Bradley, who missed his team’s previous outing due to a lower right leg bruise, has scored in double digits in each of his last three contests. While he provides little else from a categories perspective, his hefty minutes total makes him an intriguing DFS play. Expect Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to see his workload reduced with Bradley’s return to the starting five.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: Dave McMenamin

4 days agoMinnesota Timberwolves point guard Shabazz Napier will be held out of Friday’s game against the Golden State Warriors due a hamstring injury that has cost him each of his team’s past two outings. With both Napier and Jeff Teague (illness) sidelined, the team will have to get creative at point guard again with Andrew Wiggins and Jarrett Culver expected to take on an expanded role. With Napier out, Jordan McLaughlin saw 22 minutes off the bench Wednesday, although his DFS impact may be limited. Napier’s next chance to suit up comes Sunday versus Denver.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: Minnesota Timberwolves

4 days agoNew Orleans Pelicans shooting guard J.J. Redick has been given the green light to take the floor for Friday’s game against the Toronto Raptors. In addition to being cleared, Redick will reportedly not have a minutes limit, which means that he should be right in line for his normal allotment of roughly 23-25 minutes. The sharpshooter has remained a consistent threat from deep (shooting 42.9 percent), even while his overall field-goal attempts are at their lowest (8.7) since the 2010-11 campaign. He remains a strong source of threes in category format leagues, although traditional and DFS owners will need to see more contributions across rebounding (1.6) and assists (1.4) on a nightly basis before he becomes widely owned.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: New Orleans Pelicans

4 days agoThe Sacramento Kings have ruled power forward/center Harry Giles active for Friday’s contest against the Atlanta Hawks. Giles, who has yet to take the floor this season, joins a crowded Kings frontcourt that includes Richaun Holmes, Dewayne Dedmon and Nemanja Bjelica, all of whom he’ll have to battle for minutes. Don’t expect Giles to see a heavy allotment of minutes out of the gate, but Sacramento could certainly use his offensive spark, having averaged the fifth-fewest points per game (103.5) in the league entering play Friday.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: Brad Rowland

4 days agoThe Boston Celtics will once again be without center Enes Kanter for Saturday’s matchup with the San Antonio Spurs due to a left knee contusion that continues to hamper the big man. Kanter, who will miss his seventh straight game, has suited just once for Boston this season, with Daniel Theis and Robert Williams to continue sharing minutes in his stead. Having been ruled out well in advance of tip-off likely doesn’t bode well for Kanter, but his next chance to suit up comes Monday versus Dallas.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: Boston Celtics

4 days agoDetroit Pistons point guard Tim Frazier has been officially ruled out for Friday’s game against the Indiana Pacers due to a strained right shoulder, once again leaving head coach Dwane Casey with a ragtag backcourt. Both Reggie Jackson (back) and Derrick Rose (hamstring) remain sidelined, forcing Luke Kennard, Bruce Brown Jr. and Langston Galloway to all pitch in at the point guard slot. The DFS price tag on Kennard and Brown has adjusted, although both present solid traditional fantasy plays in the short-term, so long as Frazier and the other traditional point guards remain out. Frazier’s next chance to return to action comes Monday against Minnesota.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: NBA Injury Report

4 days agoMiami Heat small/power forward Derrick Jones will be back on the sidelines for Friday’s game versus the Los Angeles Lakers due to a left hip strain. Jones has been bothered by the hip ailment for a large part of the early portion of the year, having appeared in just two games off the bench following a four-game absence. Without Jones in the rotation, Duncan Robinson has seen considerable minutes and figures to be a solid DFS pick with his low price tag Friday. Jones’ next chance to return to the floor comes Tuesday against Detroit.--Jesse Borek - RotoBallerSource: Anthony Chiang

4 days agoMiami Heat guard Justise Winslow (head) has been officially ruled out for Friday's game against the Los Angeles Lakers. 4 days agoWashington Wizards forward Troy Brown will jump into the starting five for Friday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Brown will get the nod over veteran C.J. Miles. Isaac Bongo is going to lose minutes as well from Brown joining the starting five. Brown is worth adding in most 12-team formats. Head coach Scott Brooks is likely to stick with Brown in the starting five going forward.--Andy Webb - RotoBallerSource: Candace Buckner
