Orioles Acquire Jahmai Jones From Angels
Jahmai Jones from the Los Angeles Angels on Monday in exchange for starting pitcher Alex Cobb, according to sources. Jones was the Angels second-round pick in 2015 and was ranked by MLB Pipeline as the team's No. 7 prospect. Baltimore is also paying more than half of Cobb's $15 million salary for the 2021 season. The 23-year-old can also play the outfield and could find his way to the big-league level with the rebuilding O's at some point in 2021. He had three hits in his first seven major league at-bats with the Angels last season, but he's never played above Double-A in the minors. In 130 games with Double-A Mobile in 2019, Jones slashed .234/.308/.324 with five home runs, 50 RBI and nine stolen bases in 544 plate appearances. He could probably use a little more minor league seasoning, but Jones is one to keep an eye on in dynasty/keeper leagues, as he could become a solid regular at the keystone.
