New York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard was supposed to face the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday prior to the weather postponement, a game in which his strikeout totals should have risen considering Philly’s penchant for punchouts. While the Toronto Blue Jays don’t strike out as much as the Phillies, it’s pretty close (378 total strikeouts to 373). As such, Thor should nonetheless see his strikeout totals improve despite the more difficult matchup overall. Syndergaard has underwhelmed in that department as of late, sending down only eight hitters across his last 12 innings pitched via the third strike. If he doesn’t get it going against Toronto, though, we may have to look deeper into this.--John Smith
