Nick Solak Optioned, Curtis Terry Called Up
3 years agoThe Texas Rangers optioned infielder Nick Solak to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday and called up first baseman Curtis Terry from Round Rock in a corresponding move. Catcher Jose Trevino (forearm) was also activated from the injured list and catcher John Hicks was designated for assignment. Solak started the year off hot but has been in a major slump since May and is being sent down to work on his swing. He was hitting just .225/.295/.353 with nine home runs, 34 RBI and four stolen bases in 334 at-bats. Solak should be back at some point this season. Andy Ibanez is in line for regular duty at second base, making him more attractive in deep leagues. Terry, the team's No. 26 prospect per MLB Pipeline, hit .294/.375/.583 with 17 home runs and 53 RBI at Round Rock this year and is worth speculating on in deep mixed leagues. The 24-year-old right-handed hitter should see regular at-bats between first base and designated hitter. The 6-foot-2, 258-pounder makes loud contact and has plenty of power for those in need.
