Nathan MacKinnon Signs Eight-Year Extension With Avalanche
2 years agoColorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon has signed an eight-year, $100.8 million contract with the team on Tuesday. The deal carries an average annual value of $12.6 million, making the 27-year-old the highest-paid player in the National Hockey League when the contract begins. MacKinnon could have become an unrestricted free agent after this season as he had one year left on his previous contract that was signed in 2016. MacKinnon scored 13 goals and added 11 assists in 20 Playoff games to help the Avalanche win the Stanley Cup over the Lightning in six games. MacKinnon will once again be one of the best players across all fantasy hockey formats, with the elite center being selected as a top five pick along with players like Oilers centers Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews.
