Multiple Diamondbacks on the Trade Block
Eugenio Suarez, first baseman Josh Naylor, reliever Shelby Miller, outfielder Randal Grichuk, and starting pitchers Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly on the trade block, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Arizona is 50-50 entering play on Monday, 4 1/2 games back of the San Diego Padres for the final Wild Card spot in the National League. The Diamondbacks don't necessarily have to sell, but the players listed by Nightengale are veterans who don't figure to be part of the team's long-term core. Suarez and Naylor could reasonably be the two best bats to get moved at this year's deadline, so there should be a sizable market for each. The same could be said on the starting pitching front for Gallen and Kelly. Miller and Grichuk would be smaller additions, but each could fill a valuable role for a contending team.
