Mookie Betts Deal No Longer A Certainty
5 years agoThe Boston Red Sox are trying to reconfigure the part of the Mookie Betts three-team deal with the Twins to get more than pitching prospect Brusdar Graterol. There's still hope that this blockbuster deal gets finalized in some form, but some involved are suggesting that it's no longer a certainty. The hangup is over Graterol's medicals, as the Red Sox are more convinced he's a reliever rather than a starter long term, so they want another player from either the Dodgers or Twins. It could also affect the Dodgers trade with the Angels, in which they are sending outfielder Joc Pederson and pitcher Ross Stripling. There's still more of a chance of this trade actually happening, but it definitely hasn't reached the finish line yet and there is more work to do. No matter where Betts plays in 2020, he's a five-tool superstar that is a first-round fantasy pick.
