5 months agoToronto Maple Leafs forward Mitchell Marner needed only seven seconds to open the scoring against Minnesota on Thursday, matching Charlie Conacher's franchise record for fastest goal from the start of a game. With only 5:38 played, Marner already had two goals, but the Leafs still ended up losing the game 4-3. John Tavares had two assists, while Michael Hutchinson finished his team debut with 30 saves and a .882 save percentage. Sitting on 53 points through 39 games, Marner is the sixth-best scorer in the league, but amazingly, he wasn't selected for the All-Star Game, which will take place later this month. He should be out there playing with some extra fire following the snub, so fantasy owners must be pleased.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
