The Minnesota Vikings plan to hire Mike Pettine to new head coach Kevin O'Connell's defensive staff, according to sources. Ed Donatell will serve as the defensive coordinator, but Pettine will also work with the defense, and he'll give O'Connell some much-needed guidance as a former head coach himself. Pettine has been a defensive coordinator for several teams, but he was also the head coach of the Cleveland Browns for two seasons. He served as a senior defensive assistant for the Chicago Bears in 2021 and ran the Green Bay Packers defense the previous three seasons. Pettine and O'Connell coached together with the New York Jets and with the Browns. The Vikings defense allowed 383.6 total yards per game in 2021, the third-worst mark in the NFL.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
