Mike McGlinchey Done For The Season With A Torn Quad
3 years agoSan Francisco 49ers right tackle Mike McGlinchey (quadriceps) will miss the rest of the season after tearing his quadriceps muscle in the Week 9 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, according to a source. Backup tackle Tom Compton filled in for McGlinchey on Sunday and finished the game, but he wasn't good. McGlinchey had started all eight games for the team this year and had played 100% of the offensive snaps, so this is a significant loss for the Niners offensive line. The fourth-year player allowed two sacks, 13 pressures and 12 hurries this year and ranked 16th in pass-blocking efficiency, according to Pro Football Focus. San Fran could choose to try rookie Jaylon Moore, their backup left tackle, or they could decide to slide Daniel Brunskill to right tackle with McGlinchey done for the season. It's bad news for quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's pass protection moving forward.
