Mick Abel Moving to Bullpen
Mick Abel is slated to pitch out of the bullpen for the remainder of the season. The Twins acquired Abel shortly before the trade deadline from the Philadelphia Phillies in exchange for relief pitcher Jhoan Duran. The 24-year-old spent time with Triple-A St. Paul following the trade. However, this past week, Abel made his Twins debut and struggled, allowing seven hits and six earned runs to the Chicago White Sox. This performance was surprising as Abel had posted an impressive 1.76 ERA with a 0.85 WHIP across 15 1/3 innings at St. Paul. Given his expected shift to the bullpen, right-hander Taj Bradley will likely remain in the rotation going forward. Given his limited expected role, fantasy managers in standard leagues should leave Abel on the waiver wire for the foreseeable future.
