Michael Conforto Has Grade 1 Oblique Strain
5 years agoFollowing up on a previous report, New York Mets outfielder Michael Conforto (oblique) was diagnosed with a right oblique strain on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the Mets confirmed that the oblique strain is categorized as a Grade 1 strain, the mildest type. Despite the relatively good news, no timeline for his recovery has been provided and there remains a very good chance that Conforto will begin the season on the injured list. Owners should exercise caution in drafts and not reach for Conforto above his current ADP of 115, understanding that Conforto may miss time to start the season. Given the Mets solid outfield depth, they are unlikely to rush Conforto back, risking further complications. Brandon Nimmo, J.D. Davis and Dominic Smith stand to see additional playing time in the outfield to start the season as a result of Conforto's injury, boosting their fantasy appeal in mixed and NL-only formats.
