Michael Chavis Continues Hot Start
6 years agoBoston Red Sox infielder Michael Chavis finished 2-for-4 with three runs batted in in a win over Oakland on Monday. Chavis' two-RBI single in the third was part of Boston's six-run outburst before another run-scoring single in the fifth gave him his second multi-RBI game of his young career. A top prospect in the Boston system, the 23-year-old has made an immediate impact, clubbing three home runs while driving in eight runs through just nine games since his debut. Monday marked his first start at first base after spending the majority of his time at second and third. The returns of Dustin Pedroia (knee), Eduardo Nunez (back) and Brock Holt (eye, shoulder) loom near, but if Chavis keeps raking, he will force the Red Sox's hand to make a decision one way or the other. For the time being, he's gaining serious mixed league value while also being a solid DFS option in the coming games against Oakland.
