Matt Wilkinson Looks Strong In Second High-A Start
6 months agoCleveland Guardians starting pitching prospect Matt Wilkinson tossed five shutout frames with nine punchouts in his second High-A start on Friday. He allowed three hits and three free passes. This is an improvement compared to his High-A debut on May 31, where he allowed three runs, four hits, and one walk across five innings with eight strikeouts. The 21-year-old began the season with Single-A but was quickly promoted to High-A after logging just 40 ⅓ innings with a 1.12 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, and a 9:71 BB:K ratio. Even though the southpaw is currently not ranked within Cleveland's top 30 prospects on MLB Pipeline, this will sure to change over the summer as he has been one of the best arms in the minor leagues through the first three months of the season. Wilkinson should remain closely monitored in dynasty leagues, as he may even earn a promotion to Double-A in the second half of the season.
