Masataka Yoshida Getting Another Day Off
1 year agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Masataka Yoshida is getting another day of rest on Wednesday against left-hander MacKenzie Gore and the Washington Nationals. The Red Sox are giving Yoshida two days off in a row this week. Justin Turner is serving as the designated hitter and is batting in the two-hole against Gore. The 30-year-old Japanese outfielder hasn't been nearly as good since the All-Star break as he was in the first half of his first season in the States, but he's still slashing .300/.357/.468 with an .824 OPS, 12 home runs, 56 RBI, eight stolen bases and 58 runs scored on the year. Despite only having three of his 12 long balls against lefties, Yoshida has still gone 30-for-107 (.280) against them with a .366 on-base percentage.
