Martin Necas Wants To Take Another Step In 2023-24
1 year agoCarolina Hurricanes center Martin Necas is eager to develop further in 2023-24 after enjoying a career year last term with 71 points. "It was a nice bounce-back season, I would say, after a year that was disappointing for everyone," Necas said at the NHL European Player Media Tour. "I was pumped to prove myself a little different than the season before. I had a great summer (last offseason). I had a great summer again this year, so ready to take another step and be better." Necas will enter the sixth season of his NHL career with 73 goals and 117 assists posted in 285 appearances. It's a contract year for the Czech forward after he signed a bridge deal in 2022. The Hurricanes have yet to discuss an extension with him, and Necas isn't thinking about it either. "It's just about me playing well and being good for the team," the 24-year-old said.
