Mark Melancon Escapes Shaky Outing For Another Save
Mark Melancon navigated his way around two baserunners to gather his 18th save Thursday against the New York Mets. The wily veteran allowed a hit and walk to start the ninth inning before managing two grounders to end the threat, including a game-ending double play. After appearing invincible to start the year, Melancon has permitted baserunners in his last four outings. Overall, he still rocks a sturdy 0.71 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 19 percent strikeout rate while leading the majors in saves. Fantasy managers with a comfortable closer situation could cash in on the 36-year-old at the peak of his value.
