Mariners Sign Carlos Gonzalez

The Seattle Mariners signed outfielder Carlos Gonzalez to a minor league deal on Tuesday that will pay him $750,000 if he makes the major league roster. Gonzalez will also receive an invite to big league camp in spring training. The three-time All-Star has a shot to make the team's Opening Day roster, but he will most likely be a platoon bat, at best, if that happens. Car-Go had some great years with the Rockies at hitter-friendly Coors Field, but he hit just .200/.289/.283 with three home runs and 10 RBI in 45 games with the Indians and Cubs in 2019. He'll need to do much better than that to earn a spot with Seattle. It's likely that Gonzalez's days of being a fantasy contributor across all formats has come to an end.
