Luis Guillorme Could Start Rehab Assignment Next Week
4 years agoNew York Mets infielder Luis Guillorme (oblique), who hasn't played since April 25 due to a strained oblique in his right side, could start a rehab assignment in the minor leagues next week. It was initially believed that Guillorme would return from the 10-day injured list when he was eligible, but that turned out not to be the case. New York has a major league-high 16 players currently on the injured list, so getting Guillorme back will be a boost. His return could push infielder Jose Peraza back to Triple-A. The 26-year-old was hitting .333/.478/.333 but in just 18 at-bats over 14 games to begin the season, and he doesn't have a home run or RBI yet. Even with the Mets injury woes front and center, Guillorme will likely be more of a bench bat for the Mets when he's able to return.
