Luis Arraez Ready For Challenge Of Playing Left Field
Luis Arraez said he's feeling "way better than last year" and is "looking forward to the challenge of playing left field." Arraez had a stint on the injured list last season due to knee tendinitis and an ankle sprain, though he said that strengthening his knees was a focus of his offseason training with the team's staff. The 23-year-old slumped through last season at times, but he still finished with a strong .321/.364/.406 slash line with just 11 strikeouts in 121 plate appearances despite failing to hit a homer. The signing of Andrelton Simmons pushes Jorge Polanco to second base and Arraez to a utility role, though the Twins could be hard-pressed to keep his bat out of the lineup, depending on how he performs in left field, which is something that will be worth watching this spring. He's a good late-round source for both average and on-base percentage in fantasy drafts.
