Kyle Schwarber Suffers Injury Friday Night
3 years agoWashington Nationals outfielder Kyle Schwarber (hamstring) left the game early on Friday and limped into the dugout in obvious pain while grabbing his hamstring and slamming his helmet on the ground. Schwarber came into the game as one of the hottest hitters in baseball this week, so this is obviously heartbreaking news for the Nationals and fantasy managers. The left-handed slugger had a single and a strikeout in his two plate appearances before leaving the game. Entering Friday, the 28-year-old had homered 12 times in his last 12 games to raise his season line to .251/.339/.570 with 25 home runs and 53 RBI in 301 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should prepare for the worst while awaiting word on the severity of the injury. Gerardo Parra figures to see an uptick in playing time if Schwarber misses extended time, but he'd only be a short-term depth option in NL-only leagues.
