Kyle Busch Nabs Top-Five Finish At Michigan, Still Needs A Win For Playoffs
4 months agoKyle Busch had one of his strongest races of the season at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday and Monday, as the Richard Childress Racing driver grabbed his third top-five finish of the season along with a Stage win along the way. Busch's only two other top-five results this season have came at Atlanta and Dover in a year that has been one of his worst since joining the Cup Series full time in 2005. While Busch did have a good points day at Michigan, earning 48 points on the day (the second-most of all drivers), he is still 93 points behind the cut line with two races to go in the regular season. In other words, Busch needs to win over the next two weeks if he wants to make the postseason. After the race at Michigan, the driver remarked, "Just a good day overall for the Lucas Oil Chevrolet. And, you know, hope that next week, with Cheddar's and Zone and the remaining races coming up, we can put ourselves in a position to win one."
