Kevin Pillar Hit In The Face By A Pitch
4 years agoNew York Mets outfielder Kevin Pillar was hit by a pitch directly in the face on Monday against the Atlanta Braves and was forced to leave the game early. It was a very frightening scene, but fortunately Pillar was able to walk off the field under his own power. It came with the bases loaded and forced in a run. Khalil Lee, who was called up earlier in the day, pinch ran for Pillar after he left the game. It's unknown how long Pillar might be out, but the Mets outfield is decimated by injuries with both Michael Conforto (hamstring) and Jeff McNeil (hamstring) both going on the injured list earlier in the day. Lee is likely to see everyday playing time in the short term, and the Mets are very much in the market to add another outfielder from outside the organization. Johneshwy Fargas started in center field and hit ninth for the Mets on Monday night.
