Justus Sheffield Will Be Out For A While
3 years agoSeattle Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto said that tests on starting pitcher Justus Sheffield (elbow, oblique) revealed a mild flexor strain in his left arm and a Grade 2 oblique strain. The oblique strain is the bigger issue and figures to keep Sheffield on the injured list well past the 10 days. The 25-year-old left-hander has had a pretty awful year, but we wonder how much these injuries might've affected his recent performance. In 15 starts spanning 73 2/3 innings, he has a 6.48 ERA, 1.77 WHIP, 59 strikeouts and 35 walks. Until he can get healthy and starting displaying better control and command of his pitches, Sheffield should remain on the waiver wire in mixed leagues.
