Justin Verlander Silences Yankees Hitters For Seventh Win
7 years agoHouston Astros starting pitcher Justin Verlander is finishing up his month of May the same way it began, by shutting down the New York Yankees. Verlander went 6 2/3 innings Monday, allowing only one run en route to the Astros 5-1 win over the Yankees. Verlander (7-2) also beat the Yankees on May 1 by throwing eight shutout innings and striking out 14. He struck out five in this contest while his ERA took a slight bump to 1.11. Fantasy owners know a player is dominating when a one-run performance actually hurts the pitcher's ERA. Verlander is the best pitcher going in the American League right now and hopes to continue his dominance into June.
