Justin Madubuike Receives Franchise Tag
9 months agoThe Baltimore Ravens placed their franchise tag on defensive tackle Justin Madubuike on Tuesday. Madubuike had 13 sacks last season, the most by a Ravens player in nine years. He also tied an NFL record by recording at least half a sack in 11 straight games in 2023. If the two sides don't agree on a multi-year contract extension by mid-July, the 26-year-old pass-rusher will earn $22.1 million guaranteed for the 2024 season. In addition to his team-high 13 sacks, the former third-round pick had a career-high 56 tackles (38 solo), 12 tackles for loss, 33 QB hits and a forced fumble in 17 regular-season games. It was enough to make him a top-20 defensive lineman in IDP fantasy leagues in his breakout campaign. In his first three NFL seasons combined, Madubuike had just 8.5 sacks, so it's fair to wonder if he can keep this up.
