Julian Edelman 2018 Outlook: The Sun Is Setting
6 years agoNot only was Julian Edelman trying to come back from a lost 2017, but now Edelman will be suspended the first four games in 2018. Even though he has been one of Tom Brady’s favorite targets since 2013, there may too many things working against Edelman now, so is it wise to invest in him?
Not only will Edelman be looking to bounce back from extended time off, but he is also 32 years old now. He may not have much time remaining, but it seems like you can say that about a majority of the Patriots franchise. The good news is that the Patriots are not a team built around stretching the field. Edelman is the exact type of player this offense is built towards and the Patriots don’t have many weapons outside of Rob Gronkowski. Edelman has always been consistent, always averaging between 6.1 and 6.8 receptions per game since 2013 while also averaging between 10.1 and 11.3 yards per reception during the same time. If you decide to drop a value pick on him in 2018, let’s hope he offers the same consistency. More than likely though, you are not drafting more than a flex option in PPR leagues.
