Josh Lowe 2022 Outlook: Potential 20-20 Threat
3 years agoThe Rays organization is loaded with outfield depth but few players offer the offensive upside that this rookie possesses. Lowe spent the 2021 season at the Triple-A level and produced a 142 wRC+. He slugged 22 home runs in 111 games and was also a perfect 26-for-26 in steals. The 24-year-old outfielder has some contact issues that will keep him from producing a high batting average (think more .240-.260) — without the aid of some BABIP help — but he has a patient approach that allows him to get on base at a high clip. Lowe has a chance to produce similar offensive numbers to Houston's Kyle Tucker - although the Rays prospect should steal more bases and produce a lower batting average. He doesn't get the same attention that prospects from large market teams get but he has a chance to make a real impact in multiple fantasy categories during his rookie season if he can force his way into enough at-bats — and we think he will. With an ADP in the 400s, Lowe is an intriguing late-round option if he looks on target to make the opening day roster.
