Jose Bautista Retires With Blue Jays
1 year agoOutfielder Jose Bautista signed a one-day contract with the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday to retire with the team. Bautista spent 10 of his 15 big-league seasons with the Blue Jays and hit .253/.372/.506 with an .878 OPS, 288 home runs and 766 RBI with Toronto in 1,235 games played. In his prime, Joey Bats was one of the elite sluggers in Major League Baseball, and he finished his playing career hitting .247/.361/.475 with an .836 OPS, 344 home runs and 975 RBI in 1,798 games played. Bautista made six straight All-Star teams (all with Toronto) from 2010-15. His final major-league season was in 2018, when he spent time with the Atlanta Braves, New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies.
