Jordan Hicks Placed on 15-Day Injured List With Toe Inflammation
Jordan Hicks (toe) on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with right-toe inflammation and recalled pitcher Sean Hjelle from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move, according to the San Francisco Chronicle's John Shea. Hicks lost the majority of his fantasy value when he was demoted from the starting rotation to the bullpen in San Francisco, and now he's falling further with a trip to the IL. It's unclear if the 28-year-old hard-throwing right-hander will be able to come off the IL when he's eligible in a couple of weeks. Since moving to a relief role, he allowed two earned runs in 3 1/3 innings, and Hicks has a disappointing 1-5 record, 6.47 ERA and 1.54 WHIP with 43 strikeouts and 20 walks in 48 2/3 innings over 13 appearances (nine starts) in his second year with the Gigantes.
